Brewers --
If anyone is interested in taking the BJCP exam (Beer Judge
Certification Program), Ron Smith is running another study class, and
although most people here find that a bit too much of a commute to study
with his group, there is no requirement that you study with his group in
order to take the exam. It would be polite to inquire if his exam would
have room for another participant. (Exams are given for as little as 5
people, and as many as 30. It costs $50 for a first time exam.)
I am not offering a study group this year, not sure when there will be
another study group in this area (Nancy!?), but if anyone is interested
in studying on his/her own (a passing grade can be earned by any
determined, average0intelligence beer lover) I'd be happy to spend a
little time showing that person(s) what kind of approach to take. Info
available also from the BJCP at http://www.bjcp.org/
And ---- there's an exam in Aurora IL on June 6, and quite likely there
is room there for somebody from Indiana. It's a bit further in the
future and would allow more time to get ready. (The test has been
called many things, but "easy" is pretty much never one of them.)
AND FINALLY -- Let me know if you want to get some of the "judge mail"
I'll be sending in a day or two (and you're not already a BJCP judge --
I'm already including those people on the email). A person *does not
have to be* a BJCP-ranked judge to participate in a competition as a
judge or as a steward. And it's so much fun. I'll be sending some mail
soon about judging/stewarding opportunities this spring. If you want to
get that mail, let me know.
Linda
