It's called Pure Hoppiness, and billed as a Double IPA. Some people
call them Imperial IPAs.
Alpine CA is really a town in its own right, just a bit east. There are
many little town which have been absorbed by the greater San Diego area
and have kept their old names. El Cajon is home to Mary Anne and Bix
with whom I stayed Fri and Sat night, before and after enjoying the 18th
annual QUAFF "America's Finest City" homebrew competition.
Mary Anne, as judge coordinator, abstained all day on Saturday, and she
wanted to drive to Alpine and fill a growler after the competition was
over. I -- having judged eleven IPAs, the IPA mini-BoS, and the 23 Best
of Show beers -- was about as beered out as could be. So we went to
Alpine and this growler provided by Mary Anne, with Pure Hoppiness
provided by Alpine Beer Co., (duct-taped into a cardboard box padded
with my judging notebook and the extra clothes I didn't wear) came back
with me all the way to Indiana. And the sonuvagun cost another $15 to
check as baggage.
It's one little growler, won't last long. I'll be home from work by
5:30 pm. Stop by. TOMORROW Tuesday Feb 24, Fat Tuesday. Some call it
Mardi Gras.
I'll try to remember to put out the Hoffbrauhaus stein with the felt
flag (my social hour and/or brew day symbol) on the cement post at the
end of the drive.
Also I have a decent keg of "10 lb Pale Ale" that I brewed on Feb 7. It
went on the CO2 last Thu night and Rick and I sampled it last night.
It's drinkable.
But this is a short party, over by 8:30 or 9:00 so don't dally. If you
can only stay 15 minutes, hey, it'd be great to see you for 15 minutes.
Je via sano!
Linda
