OK, John Terhune the Journal and Courier photographer have exchanged
more email and I'm probably crazy but I honestly did want to brew some
night this coming week, and so it's going to be Monday. I told him he
could come over and I'd try to get some people there.

At the crack of after-work, which for me is 5 pm, I will start heating
water at 5:10 pm. If I have everything crushed and ready beforehand,
that means I'll probably mash in before 6.

PLEASE come over and be in the photos and speak into the microphone!
The will be a little photo "slide show" with sound that runs on Tuesday
9/23/08 in the online version of the J&C, and a photo spread called
"rewind" in the paper newspaper, same day. UNLESS you don't come over
and I'm the only one here. I do NOT want to be the subject of this
article and I doubt if he'd consider that either.

Steve I wish we could have done it at your place. And I'm hoping you'll
consider having us over to your place once you get all settled and used
to being in a state where brewing is LEGAL. Stop by Monday night to
speak in the microphone to say a word or two about how nice it is to be
in a state where it's legal!

Think about what you'd like to say, things that will give a good
impression of us and of the club, of homebrewers in general. Most
people don't think about making beer, don't think about other people
doing it, and a lot of them jump to silly conclusions like they think we
must do it to save money. HAH (in general). (Back in the old days it
was mostly so we could get other styles of beers besides American Lager
without traveling out of the country to do so. But for most brewers
nowadays it's just some kind of drive, an obsession:
....must....make...more....beer....)

ALL are welcome including new people and the people who don't themselves
brew, but who are members or perpetual visitors, who enjoy helping at
brew days and whose company (and help) the rest of us enjoy very much --
you folks are very welcome too. Including to speak into the microphone
and be a part of the "Sound Slides" show he puts together, saying things
like

I'm new to the area and just found out about this club. I've been
brewing for a couple of years."
"I don't brew but I like to help on brew days and I enjoy this group a
lot. I'm not a member but they keep saying they like it when I'm here!"
"I haven't brewed for a couple of years but I still have my equipment
and plan to brew again."
"They let me join the club and so here I am. I might become a brewer
but for now I'm a brewers' helper."
"We hope to make our first batch some time this fall or early winter."
I made several dozen batches back when I was in my twenties but then got
busy with other hobbies. The company of homebrewers is still great."

COME OVER MONDAY PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Even for a little while.

Thanks,
Linda

PS I'm about out of beer. :-( I will have snacks and some soup and
bread. And mead! Somebody bring some beer, please!
PPS Our house is 325 West Oak St. West Lafayette IN
Pale yellow aluminum siding, two story, brown trim, dying front lawn, on
south side of street a little east of half-way between Grant and Vine.
Very close to campus and probably on your way home, or not far out of
the way, if Purdue is where you go home from. I know Alan and Lloyd and
some others have to come from the east and I hope they'll COME OVER
TOO. (In fact if anybody else is crazy too, come set up and brew. I'm
going to bed when I'm done, and last one to leave closes the garage door!)
