[THC] all grain first try - need advice

 From the OVHA in Evansville:

You will need a mash tun of some sort, I use a regular sized canner
(the one that holds six or seven quart jars). Any other vessel of
similar size that can be heated will work.

You will also need a lauter tun -- there are a number of designs,
starting with a picnic cooler with a simple pipe manifold with slots
cut into the bottom of the pipes (PVC works fine) or as simple as my
first one -- a plain plastic bucket with a hole drilled in the side
just the size to make a non-leaking push through fit for my racking
hose, with a false bottom made of a piece of nylon mesh from the
craft store held up with some strips of copper pipe hanger. Don't
use galvanized -- the taste of zinc will be horrile!. A layer of
cheese cloth and it worked for me for years. I eventually built a
simple copper pipe manifold with slots in the bottom of the pipes
with a fitting installed in the side of the bucket so I could mount a
valve.

You can heat your sparge water in your boiler, but you will need to
transfer it when you start running your wort into it.
