[THC] beer carb and mead questions

1st....have you found any differences in how long it takes to become carbonated between a plastic *twist off lid* bottle and a glass capped bottle?    how about colors of bottles?
   
  mead, am gonna make a 5 gallon batch but only have a 5 gallon bucket as a primary, does it need room like the beer does for any bubbling activity?
