Listen up. Kate told us tonight that WW tickets for 2009 go on sale Dec
15. Based on last year and the prior trends, they could be gone in a
day or three.
This event has sold out before the date for about three or four years
running, and before that it was pretty close. It's a lot of fun, a
great value, and, well, think globally, drink locally. A meal and taxis
in the towns of Lafayette and West Lafayette are included.
Greg and Nancy Emig, owners of LBC (Greg is the founder and master
brewer) established the Winter Warmer about six years ago as a memorial
to Nancy's young sister who died when she was a Food Science major at
Purdue. They fund a Food Science scholarship with the proceeds; nobody
make any money, just good will and a scholarship. All Indiana Brewers
Guild members are invited (I think all commercial breweries in IN are
B.I.G. members) and while not all of them attend every year, a LOT of
them do, and you get to meet the people from Back Road, and Three
Floyd's, and Oaken Barrel, and Barley Island..... and it is wayyyy more
fun that you'd think $35 could buy. Not sure if that is the Brew Crew
member price or the general public price. Tickets will go fast in any
event. http://www.lafayettebrewingco.com/calendar.html
----------------
MMM (More mundane matters) -- in January we'll meet at the new (new to
us, not new as in "new") home of Rick and Linda, which we've been moving
into for the last ten days and will continue to move into for about the
next 10 days. It is so cool, and the brewing set-up has such promise, I
can't wait to show it to all of you.
What date?! Please respond to the poll in the THC calendar section of
the bulletin board, at
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~jyakimic/phpBB2/index.php
(If you have no account there or forgot how to log in, it's real easy to
deal with, just send me a note.)
Thanks,
Linda
